<p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We picked up this idea from the blog &#8220;<a href="http://www.filthwizardry.com/2010/06/tissue-paper-and-glue-window-collage.html" target="_blank">Filth Wizardry</a>&#8221; and also saw the children at <a href="http://progressiveearlychildhoodeducation.blogspot.com/2010/07/creating-window-collage.html" target="_blank">Jenny&#8217;s pre school</a> having fun with it . We thought, as the spring sunshine is now streaming in through our lovely big windows each morning, that we&#8217;d give stained glass windows a go too!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10683" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8844.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="600" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">We drew some &#8220;frames&#8221; on the windows with liquid chalk.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10702" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8849.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="600" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We gave the children wall paper paste for glueing and a selection of tissue papers with instructions to &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10685" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8880.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">tear the paper, not cut  it &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10696" title="stained glass window" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8882.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="600" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">and we asked them to paste the paper &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10694" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9037.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">within the boundaries  ..</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8869.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">of the different shaped frames.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10687" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9021.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p>These were two restrictions which the children coped with magnificently (most of the time!).</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10691" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8909.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10693" title="stained glass window" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_8910.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">They looked beautiful</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10688" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9039.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">and everyone was really pleased with the result.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10697" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9293.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="338" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">As you can see, we probably left the paper and paste out just one session too long &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-10698" title="stained glass windows" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/IMG_9292.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="600" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Oh well, that&#8217;s play based learning for you!</p>

<p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We had some paper plates left over from an eatfest, so popped them out on the table with containers of coloured tissue paper and glue.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-1775" title="P1220506" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/P1220506-399x300.jpg" alt="P1220506" width="399" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We like to leave it up to the children to decide what they would like to do with the materials which we present and just see where they go with it &#8211; we find they often have much better ideas than we would have. Children are good at thinking outside the square.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border: 0px initial initial;" title="P8250030" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/P8250030-399x300.jpg" alt="P8250030" width="399" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">They enjoyed dipping the tissue paper into the glue instead of the using the usual brush.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1778" title="P8250032" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/P8250032.JPG" alt="P8250032" width="450" height="169" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: left;">We were blown away with the variety of shapes and patterns the children came up with.  Some children enjoyed doing quite intricate work &#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-2257" title="P1220479" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/P1220479-399x300.jpg" alt="P1220479" width="399" height="300" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&#8230; while others went for the whole hand scrunch.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Sticky, slimy fingers &#8211; yummy!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2255" title="P8250038" src="http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/P8250038.JPG" alt="P8250038" width="338" height="450" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Whatever way they went, they had fun!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"> </p>
