::: an irresistible new direction

We embrace change and we love a challenge – who doesn’t in early childhood? As you may know, we stopped teaching together at our beautiful kindergarten in the outer suburbs of Melbourne at the end of 2010 to concentrate on other aspects of our business such as teacher PD. We have thoroughly enjoyed this fun side of our business and thank you so much to everyone who has supported us.

We have decided this year that we will once again head in another direction. We have a dream of writing a book together with our friend Marc Armitage. A book about children and how through PLAY they are all universally connected. A photographic exploration of children doing what children do best P-L-A-Y.  We’ve nicknamed it ‘Project Dreamer’ but we want it to be much more than a dream. Our intention is to work really hard this year in order to make this dream come true! Before that can happen however, Donna has a full year tour managing Marc Armitage who is coming to Australia at least three times in 2013 to run workshops and attend conference circuits and Sherry, who has recently completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, will become much more involved in tertiary training.

Marc Armitage – UK PLAY expert …

We are also interested in helping to organise other fabulous early childhood experts to bring the latest and greatest information to our preschool, long day care, OSHC, family day and primary school educators.

IIFPBL Facebook Page …

Our blog will remain, all of the great ideas for teaching in early education are still there, so please explore. From time to time we will put up a new post, but it won’t be as regular as it has been in the past. It is very difficult when we are not teaching and planning together to have new posts about activities/ideas etc… Our Facebook page will also remain and continue to be the fabulous resource that it has become.

2013 has started off very well for us as we hope it has for all of you!

 Cheers … Sherry and Donna

    Good on you both for being open to change! We love you to bits and couldn’t imagine you both sitting still for to long. It’s always exiting to start something new and see it all come together.

    ::: YOU Sharon have known us such a long time now … Even when teaching your beautiful girls we couldn’t sit still!!! Thank you for your support and friendship over the last ??? 6 or 7 years!!? 🙂 🙂

  2. Viv says:

    All the best lovely ladies ! Can’t wait to see your book ! Enjoy the journey.

    ::: Thanks Viv … We won’t be disappearing, just ‘going left’ for a while! 🙂 🙂

  3. I’ve told you how I did a happy dance when I first discovered your blog. And since then I have used so many of your ideas for playful learning and irresistible set ups at preschool that I have lost count.

    Not only that, but I have found the two most amazing cheerleaders for my own blog and any other little achievements I may have had along the way.

    But even more importantly, I’ve found 2 friends.

    Needless to say, I’m happy that you decided to start blogging! I’m also happy that you are moving on in a direction so incredibly suited to your talents and I will be waving the flag for you in whatever you do.

    So thanks for the blog, thanks for the support, thanks for the friendship and onwards ladies, onwards.

    ::: What can we say Jen but SNAP!!! Fate brought us together and fate will play a big part in our future and YOURS … MAYBE fate will create that joint venture we have often talked about too!?!?!? Thanks for being such a GREAT friend! 😉 X 😉 X

  4. You guys made the jump! I’m so proud of you 😀 This year is going to be amazing! Un-bloody-believably amazing 🙂 Make sure you keeps us up-to-date with the books progress 🙂

    ::: Thanks Kate. Just like life we are putting one foot after the other and plodding along … We figure as long as we keep plodding in the same direction we will get there eventually … Thanks for always being so supportive of us! 🙂 🙂

  5. This is so exciting. Thanks for sharing the news. I’m sure all your blog fans like myself will be rushing to buy the book as soon as it’s out. All the best with your tour management and training activities too! It’s great when things work out and Marc seems to be making the duo into a trio! Yay!

    ::: We have a long way to go to make the book dream a reality Juliet BUT if determination plays a role we will get there! 🙂 🙂

    I am so excited for all of you as this new direction begins to take shape! I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you do together as you move forward! I will be first in line to get that book!!!!

    ::: Well lovely Ayn you be sure come to Australia and pick up your copy of that book now won’t you!!! 🙂 🙂

  7. Tom says:

    Children embody change and learning. They have no choice and they accept it. Adults, on the other hand, get in a comfort zone and like to stay there. Hats off to you both for once again stepping out of your comfort zones and modeling change for those adults who follow you. All the best in the new endeavors.

    ::: Thanks for your continued support Tom! I think we are both so fortunate that we do and always have embraced change … Never were 2 years the same when we taught together. Not only was this because the children year after year were different but also our personalities are such that we both need to be growing and learning new things in order to not get bogged down in the plodding of life. Plodding will get you no where exciting … You need to be prepared to tackle some hills in order to see what’s over the horizon, and even if it is all up hill from here, we are both prepared to stride it out and take a darn good crack at making it! 🙂 🙂

  8. Cheering you on from the sidelines!

    ::: Awwww … Thanks so much Susan! 🙂 🙂

  9. Good luck you two! Always inspired by your ideas and your dedication to supporting our early years community, now I am in awe of how you’re both following such an exciting dream. 🙂

    ::: Naaaw thanks Caroline … We will never be too far away … Promise! 🙂 🙂
