::: exploring the colour purple
Recently at St. John’s Kindergarten in Croydon, Pauline and Donna introduced the children to a new focus colour. During second term the children have been focusing on their colour recognition, introducing a new colour each week.

This weeks colour was purple! New colours are introduced subtly, and in the simplests of ways as these children are just three going on four. There was purple paper lining the drawing table.
Purple bits ‘n’ bobs added to the threading activity.

This activity no only focused on the colour …

it also provided the children with wonderful opportunities to enhance their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination.

Purple card for crown making proved another fun way to get those finger and hand muscles working …

Cutting with scissors,

Pulling off sticky tape …

Stapling, glueing and sticking bits in place …

Such great results for pre-kinder aged children!

It just goes to show. If you put the right tools in the hands of young children and teach them how to handle them correctly, wonderful things can result.

In this case the real tools were scissors, sticky tape dispensers, staplers and needles!

Life is such a rainbow when you’re still just three and four!
