::: a painting chip matching game
We have been exploring different matching games that are ‘homemade’ over the last little while for various reasons, here and here. One being that the cost is so much cheaper, in fact free, it is a great way to recycle bibs and bobs that perhaps have passed their use by date, and it makes sense to fit the game to your own group of children.
We visited out local hardware store recently and picked up pairs of paint chips which we thought might make a good matching game, then stuck one of each colour onto a big sheet of card.
We popped the matching cards into a basket for the children to choose from.
They were soon busy at work …
encouraging and helping each other.
This was an easy, inexpensive activity where we talked about rectangles, boxes, matching, patterns and colours. Simple numeracy while at play.
