::: another matching game
On the weekend we had an arty experience (visited a gallery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley that is displaying the Archibald finalists, which is a portrait competition) and came away with a collection of cards with some of the paintings on them. We thought we could make a great matching game with them and then got carried away and added circles going from largest to smallest.
This became a very popular activity and the children were actually lining up to do it.
Lots of concentration figuring out the sizing and some art appreciation too.
Next time we are going to make a Snap game out of the cards, which might mean another trip out to our beautiful countryside to pick up some more resources!!! By the way, the winner was the portrait on the bottom right.

Another idea would be to find various small items, 2 that are the same of each, and pop all that in a basket: e.g. 2 bottle lids, 2 jar lids, 2 plastic spoons, 2 art cards, 2 spools, etc. Kids could find those matches too. (123kindergarten.com)
::: That’s a great idea Barbara … Thank you sharing it with us.

What a lovely simple thing to do with shapes and size. My son has just become interested in shapes again and I know he will love this.
Thanks
::: You’re welcome Anna … EMJOY!

He loved it! He really enjoyed looking for circles that we could draw around. And then we did it with cars – a huge success: http://twosmallflames.blogspot.de/2012/07/im-always-on-hunt-for-activities.html
::: Heeheehee what fun! Thanks Anna.
