We are Sherry and Donna and together we welcome you to ‘irresistible ideas for play based learning’, a blog designed to inspire and assist Teachers who follow a Developmental Curriculum, Tertiary Students of the Early Childhood Sector and Parents of children in the Early Years.
While teaching preschool together our mantra was “Make it Irresistible”. As it is not always easy to find exciting, irresistible and appropriate play based learning ideas for children in the early years, we would like to share with you some of the ideas our students have enjoyed over the years.

We have this wonderful musical tree. I never thought of using it in the sensory table. Great idea! My toddler daughter would be ecstatic with so many marbles!

Very brave though. I can imagine the marbles going everywhere!!!
::: Certainly some of the marbles ended up on the floor Jess but that became added fun … racing to see who could find the most.
I’ve done a similar activity and then extended it by adding water as well as marbles!
Marbles are also fantastic run down lengths of plastic guttering that the children can fit together anyway they like.
::: LOVE the water idea Vicki and of course gutters are always so much fun to roll things down too!
