::: hangers
One thing we are discovering on our journeys around preschools and school is that it is not always easy to find a way to suspend works of art, material etc … We were very lucky at our kinder where we worked together as it had those old metal support beams on the ceiling, great for hanging material …
or mosquito nets…
or branches …
or even balls from.
We have noticed that different centres think outside the square to overcome this problem. Many are putting strong wire from one side of the room to another, particularly good for hanging curtains from …
or art works.
Even bamboo suspended from the ceiling on hooks is effective.
You can’t go too far wrong with netting either.
At Stocky Road Primary School recently we saw some other great ideas such as this old market umbrella.
Great for hanging some beautiful wind chimes from.
What do you do with those plastic hangers with pegs on them that we think will be handy for hanging our small bits of laundry on but which are actually just a nuisance? Incorporate them into your setups!
We loved this one over the magnet experiment.
What a great way to disguise the hanger.
This one has streamers hanging from it which is enhancing their sea focus.
This small drying rack which just never seems to fit over anything at home (or camping where it is designed to be used), is great for suspending these insects over the nature table.
We have had it reinforced to ourselves time and again that teachers are very inventive and good at thinking outside the square!!

I am absolutely in LOVE with your ideas!!!!!! I definitely keep it in my file! Thank you so much!
::: Thank you Caroline!

The hangers are great but I love the idea of the ball and stocking pendulum. That will get a go given the amount of rain we’ve been having here at the moment.
::: Here’s a link to our post on the pendulum play Nerys … SO much fun!

I wish I could transform myself into a fly on the wall for my PD and live in some of those classrooms…the creativity is awsome!
I love it when people think outside the box!
::: We do too Bianca!

Thanks for the link. Now I’m even more inspired!
::: You’re welcome Nerys … Enjoy!
