::: decorating tennis ball tubes
Recently the children at Rugratz Retreat Childcare Center had an absolute ball playing with tennis ball tubes. They started off using them as skittles before making a game out of removing the plastic labels from them after which they took them to the ‘invention’ area to decorate them .
Some children chose to pour paint into the tube and tip and roll the paint around to coat the inside.
Others used marbles dipped in paint to decorate the inside of the tubes adding many different colours …
while other’s gathered up bits and bobs to stuff into the tube as decoration.
Regardless of how they chose to decorate them …
they all looked very beautiful.

I love these! What a great idea. Have you thought about putting an LED bike light into each, and looking at each in the dark? I think the light would look great through all those different materials – and opaque/translucent qualities could be explored.
We’ve been using bike lights recently – to light our Chinese lanterns red and in our white moonbeams in a jar; they give a great powerful light of course – without any heat.
::: Now that sounds like fun Julia. We must look in to trying that one out!

Wow! I love this activity… so easy to individualize and personalize for each child’s interests, abilities and unique style. And thank you for ALL of your activity ideas and your commitment to learning through PLAY!
::: Awwww … Thank you Michelle for your lovely comment. We are thrilled you are enjoying what we have to offer.
