::: ringwood uniting preschool at the beginning

We have been enjoying doing some relief teaching lately and we were both lucky enough to work at Ringwood Uniting Preschool as one of their staff members is off sick at the moment.  We have talked about what a big job it is to get our rooms looking irresistible for the new little possums excitedly coming into us at the beginning of the year and we have to say that the staff at Ringwood Uniting have certainly got their act together.

The overall look of their room is very welcoming.

They have little corners for one or two children reminiscent of the holidays that have just been such as this mini sea …

and this shell sorting activity …

and magnetic fish game.

They have a camp site …

a frog pond …

and colourful posters that make you feel that you are still there.

We love this simple colour sorting game…

and the tinkling tones this musical instrument produces just with marbles plopping down each wood layer is just beautiful and not at all intrusive. The children soon learned that two or three rolling marbles is even better than one!

The musical instruments  on a table for one are gorgeous indigenous ones from around the world

We thought the magnifying glasses on the light table were a great addition to the light table and we noticed many children happily checking out the shells through these lenses.

The staff create a really homely room with the addition of plants …

 lamps …

and ornaments amongst other things.

We love the way the staff store their bits and pieces …

and drape materials wherever they can.

Thank you for inviting us to work at your centre – we had a ball!

Thanks for the lovely pictures. I’ve been checking out your site for inspiration for a while, and you never cease to amaze me with the things you come across. I’m getting there with my centre, but have a long way to go! Thanks!

::: We’re glad we can provide you with inspiration Jolene. :) :)

  2. You know how much I love these. I’ve just pinned pretty much all the photos for ideas to use at preschool. Thank you!

::: Indeed we do how much you love them Jenny … AND you’re very welcome! We will be posting on the individual activities over the next few weeks! :) :) :) :)

  3. I love the use of mirrors in this play setting. Also. will def have to get some more plants for my classroom, I’ve a clipping a little girl gave me before Christmas. To celebrate it still being alive I’ll have to get it some buddies lol :-)

::: Carly we find things like the mirrors and plants dotted around the place really adds to the homey feeling and that is what we think is important to create as much as possible for the children. After all they spend a large part of their waking day with us. :) :)

Once again you have made my heart jump. The frogs, the fabric, the sorting, the light table…but most of all the PLAY. So inspiring :) Thank you. :)

::: They really have themselves sorted at Ringwood Uniting Preschool, Bianca. Their room always looks enticing!
