::: moruya preschool – N.S.W.

On our road trip up the southern coast of NSW recently …

we popped in to see Moruya Preschool at the invitation of David who was one of the participants of the workshops we had conducted in Narooma.

He is very proud of the preschool that he has been working at for an awfully long time!! Everyone should be proud of the work they do with our young children, but not too many admit it out loud. It was so refreshing to hear his enthusiasm!

Again, the preschool was packed up for the weekend which makes it hard to show it at its full glory …

but it was still obvious that this team of educators works hard …

to create a wonderful environment for their children.

The feature that first hits you as you walk in the door is the wonderful Australian bush painting on the cupboard doors …

created by a local artist, Raewyn Lawrence, with input from the children.

Besides all the Aussie animals and plants …

we loved the bits of fantasy she has snuck in.

We headed outside. There is a big verandah at the back which extends the indoor space beautifully. It has cosy couches and rugs – a great space for a quiet play.

Moruya Preschool has a huge yard like the one we saw in Narooma …

providing plenty of space to bring the inside out.

There is heaps of room for running, cycling or whatever active four and five year olds want to do …

That Sherry ... She's a terror!
or those of any age for that matter!!!

They also had hens …

which were in a fabulous enclosure.

The door to their hen house is a sliding one which is moved to one side or the other so the hens can enjoy scratching in the vegetable patch which is not in use that season.

When that patch is being planted up, the door is slid across and they have access to the garden that has finished producing.

Ingenious!!

We loved the large climbing structure …

with the tunnel underneath.

Their undercover sandpit is fabulously enormous …

and they are able to have four swings in a row as they have a safety fence around them.

They have plants in pots …

a touching memorial garden …

and a garden in waiting for a new water feature.

Moruya Preschool is situated on Campbell Street, Moruya, NSW on the south coast.
This information has been added to our Education Directory.

We were so fortunate to be able to travel up into New South Wales and Canberra recently to present some workshops on The Importance of Play, Engaging Boys, Jazzing up Play Spaces and Science. Unfortunately interstate travel is not always possible so if you would like to have your Play Based kindergarten, preschool or school featured on the blog and added to our Education Directory, you are welcome to send us some photos and a run down of your center or school so we can share it right here!

Another example of NSW showcasing its best. It must be hard to say nice things about NSW as a Victorian……lol
Is David the Director? Teacher? or what? Sounds great that you finally got a guy to one of your workshops.
::: Actuallly Greg we got 2 guys to our workshops in N.S.W. and 35 Gals! David is a teacher at Maruya and he’s been there over 20 years. What lucky, lucky, children! … AND what’s this Victorian, New South Wales rivalry you speak of??? Hmmmm … must be a N.S.W. thing. We Victorians speak nicely of EVERYBODY!

OMG! The space that they have! And put to extremely good use, too.
Love the climbing structure (envious, so envious)….
::: We couldn’t agree more Shi Jing… Their yard is ENORMOUS!
Makes me want to move just so my little one can go there!
::: And we’re sure they’de make you very welcome too Planning Queen!

Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!
::: Thanks Karlie … It’ really is lovely!
