::: pool noodle sculptures
We had a pool noodle left over from when the children made their noodle marble run a little while back as when we cut this one open we found it didn’t have the hole running through the middle.
Recently, while scouring through all the wonderful ECE Facebook pages, we came across these wonderful sculptures from the ever inspiring Casa Maria’s Creative Learning Zone page.
We showed some pictures of them to the children and they asked if they could have a go at making their own.
We carefully supervised the children as they cut the foam noodle up themselves, using a bread knife.
More power to the children we say!
We gathered up some bamboo skewers and match sticks for the children to construct with. As we still had a little bit of drift wood left over from our beachy driftwood threadings and hot glue gun sculptures the children were keen to add them in too.
What really impressed us with the foam noodle was that unlike sculpting with polystyrene …
the noodle material is really easy to cut with scissors …
and does not snap and break when you put some pressure on it …
proving really easy to create with.
Using the extra long bamboo skewers gave the children the option to use them long …
or cut them to fit.
While the matches were great for decoration and detail.
How’s that smile for one very proud sculptor?!
Thanks for the creative inspiration Maria!
