::: syndal preschool
The first thing which struck us as we pulled up outside Syndal Preschool, which is in Glen Waverley just off Blackburn Road, is the huge, treed yard!
What lucky children!
Due to the scope of the outside area they are able to have many different play areas, such as their Balinese style hut surrounded by a fabulous dry creek bed.
They also have a huge sandpit, half under cover, half under the shade of the trees …
with plenty of room for different groups of children to play …
without getting in each others way.
They were cooking up a storm up in the mud pie kitchen (Harry’s Hut)!
Bike riding was taking place around the bike track.
Construction was happening under the pergola.
While plenty of social and physical play was being enjoyed on the climbing equipment.
The inside environment was very quiet the day we visited as the children were so engaged out in the brilliant autumn sunshine.
We noticed however, they had a fabulous home corner set up …
and we loved that the children were provided with real crockery to play with.
Check out the cupcakes in this home corner – made from material and stuffed with wadding into those re-usable patty pans – delicious!
It was nice to see a great respect for multiculturalism around the room …
reflecting the multicultural diversity of the children and families who attend this delightful preschool.
Syndal Preschool has created a warm and inviting environment …
where the children are encouraged to explore and learn through play!
Syndal Preschool is a sessional kindergarten catering for 3 and 4 year old groups and is located at 2 Matthew Street, Glen Waverley – Victoria (Melway Reference: 62 A 12)

Love the idea of the cupcakes!
::: They are very gorgeous aren’t they Chrys!

Wow. You guys are really finding some gems. Tell me, what are they doing in the last photo?
::: It just goes to show Jenny, there are some wonderful educational settings out there. Unfortunately teaching is a profession where you just don’t get out to see them … Here’s hoping we can change that! That last picture is a gem! It’s a solar powered fountain which the children are playing with. We have a post coming up on that on Saturday!

Oh wow, look forward to the post. People just have the best ideas.
::: See you back here Saturday then Jenny!

I have got to work out how to make those cupcakes! I’ve seen a lot of felt food, but it is beyond my skills to make them. But maybe I could do these!
::: Tracy I reckon these would be pretty easy to make.

I’m thinking I could stuff a square of material with wadding and tie it with a laccy band. But then I’d have to hot glue them in the cases…
::: Sounds like a plan! … I think that would work really well Tracy!

Loved the outdoor environment with so many interesting and imaginative play opportunities.I am a complete sucker for a great sandpit!
::: Beth … THAT is a really great sandpit alright!!!
