::: sandy goop

When we made our own version of moon sand recently, it dried out a bit in the sun so we added some water to fluff it up again.  At one stage we added far too much water and wow! …

we ended up with a really sloppy, yet yummy mixture!

It reminded us of ‘oobleck’ or what we call goop (cornflour and water) …

It held together when you squeezed it, then oozed when you took off the pressure.

It was similar to goop, only with a thicker, grittier texture.

It was just as lovely to play with but wasn’t nearly as messy  …

which some of the children found very appealing (and was a bonus for us at clean up time!)

    Lovely! Am going to try this – thank you :)

    ::: Have fun Shar. :) :)

    This looks like so much fun, Donna. I think we’ll go your whole route and start with moon sand, then “accidentally” add too much water.

    ::: Then Tom if you add way too much water you can pop it into a piping bag or sauce bottle and draw and write with it … well anyway that’s were it went next with these children. We’ll post on that experience a bit later. :) :)

    That looks wonderful, we will have to give it a go!

    ::: Have fun with it Caz! :) :)

    I love this idea. With my toddler class last year we made ooblick often (each child had their own individual bowl) and sometimes I added some craft sand to add texture, color, and variation. I’ve never used moon sand before. I think I’ll have to give it a try! I have used squeeze bottle glitter (equal parts flour, salt, and liquid) in sauce bottles though and really enjoy the results. That sounds similar to what happened with your moon sand concoction next.

    ::: Oobleck is the best isn’t it Pepper? We love that each child had their own individual bowl! :) :)
