::: highvale preschool
Highvale Preschool is a City of Monash kindergarten situated off Springvale Road, not far from the Glen Shopping Center in Glen Waverley.
We arrived when a four year old session was in full swing.
The staff at this kindergarten must be keen horticulturalists as the garden reflects this with little nooks and crannies …
surrounded by native grasses …
mini tomato gardens in tyres …
a variety of textured shrubs …
and winding paths.
It has a welcoming playground …
with a large sand play area …
and lots of natural shade trees.
They also have a water tank tucked into a corner to aid the watering of this luxuriant garden.
The staff are very excited that they have recently received a Coles Junior Landcare Grant. They will be using the money to renovate a disused part of the yard which they are turning into a large vegetable garden. They will be using a product made from recycled toner cartridges called “Yummy Yard Raised Garden Beds”. This project will be complementing their worm farm, composting and recycling program.
We have noticed that the City of Monash kinders that we have visited are lucky enough to have large verandahs around them and the one at Highvale is used to great advantage.
Just check out this irresistible reading nook!
Inside all the children were very busy and involved in a wide range of activities including a heap of imaginative and dramatic play.
They had a gorgeous teepee …
and a delicious home corner.
as well as a multitude of open ended play stations!
including these lovely feely bags!
Highvale Preschool is a warm inspiring environment run by a delightful team of caring staff.

::: Well done indeed Michelle!

Love those tire gardens for kids to learn how to garden. Such a simple, and green, way to container garden! And what fun to have those tires to climb on when it is not gradening season.
So many great featuers at this preschool.
::: You’re right Abbie they are all great ideas!
