::: ellie v. pullin preschool
Ellie V. Pullen Preschool is in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, right in the middle of Ringwood North, Warranwood and Park Orchards.
It is situated adjacent to a native bush reserve …
as are many of the council kindergartens in the City of Maroondah.
Not long ago they had a refurbishment of their outdoor play area which has settled down and mellowed now …
helped along by many busy and active children no doubt!
The day we visited there were children riding bikes on the circuit …
playing with dinosaurs in the ‘jungle’ sandpit …
(doesn’t their non-invasive bamboo look great?) …
cooking up a storm in their mudpie kitchen …
playing shops …
and having fun …
in their large, covered sandpit …
and beneath their many shade giving trees.
The new look play space is a beautiful, calm and peaceful setting.
while the inside environment is light …
and bright …
with a fresh, clean feel to it.
Ellie V Pullin Preschool is a sessional kindergarten located at 30 Tortice Drive, Ringwood – Victoria (Melway Reference: 36 A 12)

what an amazing outdoor space! Each nook and cranny is surrounded by nature and full of inspiration for imaginative play. With so many opportunities for discovery, this seems to be the perfect outdoor classroom.
::: You’re right Marian it is a beautiful, natural outdoor learning environment. The City of Maroondah is well know for being a green belt and as we stated most of the Council owned Preschools in this area are built alongside nature parks and reserves which really enhances the outdoor classroom feel.

[...] wanted to redefine their care community’s idea of outdoor play. Soon after I found a blog that featured a play-based preschool in Australia. They have the most enchanting outdoor [...]
We have been looking to put bamboo into our centre, what species is theirs? We don’t want a travelling bamboo problem in the future! Each space looks like it would be so much fun to explore!
::: Kristy I’m not sure what species of bamboo they used but it is of the non invasive variety, otherwise called a clumping bamboo, which doesn’t spread like some other bamboo species do.

We live in NY state and I’ve never seen such an inviting preschool! It makes me jealous! I wish I were a kid again and lived there!
::: It’s interesting to hear how preschool differ all over the world Tricia. I think our Education Directory journey is going to be very interesting!
