::: heigh-ho heigh-ho it’s off to school we go!

The lovely Prep teachers, Joyanne and Chantal at Croydon West Primary School, invited us to visit them and see how their new children were settling into school, some of them our little poppets from last year.
Croydon West run a play based program, an extension of our kindergarten program, so we were very interested in seeing how well the children who were new to school were settling in.
We got there nice and early before the children arrived so were able to get the whole picture.
It all looked lovely and fresh …
and very inviting!
As soon as they came in the children popped away their bags and got stuck straight into playing.
Some got out work they had started the day before and wanted to finish.
Others found the play dough …
the home corner …

or the moon sand.
Others built with blocks,
made snakes with magnets

or dived into some sand play.
Others played with their friends in imaginative play corners,
made patterns with beads,
invented things.
or enjoyed a quiet read.
They were all busy, happy and quick to wave off their parents.
The teachers were relaxed too …

and had time to touch base with all the children.
What a lovely start to the day!
What a gentle introduction to school!
Croydon West Primary School is located in Hinkley Avenue, Croydon – Victoria

What a wonderful looking school. I wish my kids could go there!
::: We love that they follow a play based philosophy Catherine and the children were all just so happy and settled … it was lovely to see!

Hats off to these teachers for creating such a playful and welcoming environment for young children. Lets face it, teachers in public schools are really up against it when it comes to doing so – time, resources, boxy classrooms, testing etc so it makes my heart sing to see how it can be done.
::: And it works so well Jenny. Not only are the children happy and relaxed but the staff are too!

It doesn’t get any better than that. What a wonderful way to start the school year. Such diverse activities – something to suit everyone. Perfect. The teachers did a magnificent job.
::: You’re right Elise it is a wonderful way to start the school year and these happy relaxed children were less than a week into it!

What a wonderful environment, I also wish my daughter was going there – and me too!
::: It really is lovely Shar!

What a beautiful write up of our classroom Donna and Sherry. It was a pleasure having you visit us and I’m so delighted that you enjoyed it. The children just love coming to school and it’s so true that we all feel that way. It’s a warm, inviting and exciting environment to be in. And boy, the room looked fabulous in those photos! Come again anytime.
::: Well Chantal we just wrote it as we saw it and as they say … the camera never lies! Thanks for having us and we will definitely be back!
