::: Kew traffic school

We went on one of our most popular excursions this week -

the Kew Traffic School here in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Even though it is down a residential street, there is quite a big carpark …

which accomodates a bus or parents’ cars easily.

It has a lovely park adjacent to it where we had a picnic and the children (and some dads) had a play on the equipment.

Then on went their helmets and into the new snazzy room  …

which is set up for talks and DVDs on road safety with Daniel.

After that we all went around the large yard with the adults to check out the layout -

the traffic lights …

and signs,

the cubbies,

the train …

and railway crossing …

tram …

- and to be reminded of the correct side of the road

which everyone hopefully would ride on.

At last it was time to get into some serious riding!

We have been coming here for years and have never had a “real accident”.

Sometimes we don’t know how we avoided them …

as some of the children are very confident and can be a bit hoon-like

despite the road safety build up we had leading up to the excursion

and Daniel’s chat beforehand.

Luckily we always have wonderful support from our parents and Grandparents which means plenty of people around to keep an eye on things.

They rode for over an hour …

non stop.

They had an absolute ball …

all the while learning as they played!

They were pretty tuckered out by the time they tumbled back into their cars.

All in all it was a great day.

The Traffic School is available for private hire for such things as birthdays and also has school holiday programs. Contact Daniel or Check out the Boroondara City website for details – http://boroondara.vic.gov.au/residents/kew-traffic-school.

what a great day …we do a ‘bikeathon’ each year to raise money for charity and i am always amazed that some of the children refuse to stop for 2 hours!! this facility is fabulous though lucky you!
p.s. any chance you could send daniel in my direction? i’m sure we could find him a job!!!!

::: A “bikeathon” sound wonderful Finleysmaid and we’re not surprised the children go the distance. They didn’t stop at the traffic school either. As for our mate Daniel NOOOOO you can’t have him he’s wonderful and he’s ours!!! Sorry! :) :)
