::: our magnificent climbing trees!

Last Saturday we posted about our beautiful sail boat which lives beneath one of our magnificent weeping willow trees.

Well today we want to show off those magnificent trees …

because we feel totally blessed to have them in our kinder yard!

Apart from the endless fun they have provided for hundreds of children over many, many, years …

they provide us with shade in the summer …

and light in the colder weather.

Our kinder is 46 years old so the trees have been here at least that long.

Over the years we’ve had a few limbs removed which have left wonderful platforms for the children to play on. Often as a cooking platform but also a pirate look out, super hero launch pad … yes they do jump off it, a shop, island, in the heat of summer a platform to check for fires in the nearby hills and a multitude of other things!

This particularly large branch has spent the years slowly drooping towards the ground.

It becomes part of an irresistible obstacle course on which the children can challenge themselves.

Balancing …

and climbing.

The higher the better!

It is a wonderful vantage point to observe the rest of the playground …

and a great place to enhance gross motor skills.

It will be a sad day when we loose these trees because all year round they are …

simply irresistible!

::: Lily weeping willow tree are cursed my many people as their root system is quite destructive however we couldn’t have planned for better trees in our kinder yard!

Oh, how I love those trees. We don’t have any climbing trees in our new yard and we miss them! If I ever moved back to Melbourne I would so want to live near your kinder and send my youngest there!
::: We reckon it’s every child’s god given right to have a climbing tree Catherine!

Gorgeous photos. It seems like the trees have made a real effort to grow to accomodate the play of children

I love this. I so love good climbing trees!
::: We absolutely agree Phyllis … and these two are beauties!

you cannot beat a good climbing tree, and from memory the higher the better! We had a pine that was 3storeys high beside our house that provides so much fun as a child.
::: Whoa Kelli that sounds like every child’s dream … and many parents nightmare!

What a beautiful and inspirational post. I’ll be linking my next blog post to this one as it’s all about celebrating children and trees. It’s so important for educators to see pictures of children climbing trees whilst at pre-school. Children are great at self assessing the risks and only attempt what they think they can manage.
::: We couldn’t agree more Juliet and we welcome the link … thanks!

I noticed those trees in the boat post. They are fabulous! I am so very jealous.
::: You’re right Bev they are fabulous!

Jealous of beautiful trees – we have trees galore but they are all outside our fence.
