::: fantastic foil frames
We just don’t seem to get to the end of the cd cases! It has to happen some day!

Anyway, out they came again this week .

We added some silver foil and paint for the children

to create their own free standing paintings.

They wrapped one side of the cover in foil first,

sticky taping it at the back so it didn’t fall off.

Then using cotton buds and bright paint,

they decorated the foil with both patterns

or actual scenes.

We liked the smallness of it all - small area to paint and small tool to paint with.

Some stood theirs up like a tent,

while others preferred the ‘on the side’ look.

Some popped the foil inside and painted on the plastic covering it …

while others covered one side and painted the other.

All different looks!

All different techniques!

All unique!

All irresistible!

They are so vibrant! Does the paint peel or flake off when they are dry? The painted clear covers would look fantastic against a window as an alternative activity.
::: Shar they didn’t appear to be flaking but then again they only made them on Thursday!

I love the way you’ve used these cases. Such an expansive free-form project.
As a teacher, I think, it’s so liberating to occasionally have unlimited resources like this. For me, at least, it makes it easier to just let the kids go. Brava!
::: Unlimited resources is right Tom … we STILL a box full of c.d. cases … they must be breading in that store room of ours!

I LOVE the little easels that they make – small is sometimes just perfect (just like BIG is sometimes exactly right…) I’m sending out an SOS for old CDs and cases tomorrow!
::: Good luck with your “SOS” Louise!

Very special indeed!
Clunk, clunk, clunk (sorry that’s my Sunday morning brain trying to kick start
)
Me thinks this would make a gorgeous christmas card !
Shar ~ adding some PVA glue to the paint would safeguard it from peeling
::: We think you could be onto something there Jo!

Hi there,
Wondering where could i get loads of empty cd cases? any ideas…
::: Sarah publishing companies do a lot of work from C.D’s and then they discard them so you could try them. Pre-press (where ours came from) and printing companies are also good place to try. Be sure to ask for the C.D’s as well … seriously ASK, don’t be shy they can only say no!! … hope that helps!
