::: foam sticker chickens

Keeping with the chicken theme we have been exploring at kinder …

we popped out materials for another creative chicken project for the children.

We have a box of different sized foam discs with sticky backs we obtained from Reverse Art – don’t the children always love stickers of any sort?

We added black dots, feathers, felt pens and small firm card … all the things you might need to create an irresistible chicken!

Peeling the backing off the sticky dot is always a great challenge for little fingers …

but it’s a challenge the children always rise too!

As always, the children had their own take on this project and produced some really interesting and fun art works. As an extension here we are thinking caterpillars, insects ….hmmmm, what else?

Then again we’ll just hand this one over to the creative experts and ask them to come up with their own ideas because they ALWAYS come up with the best!

Fun idea!
::: Thanks ‘V‘.

These turned out adorable! Thanks for sharing!
::: You’re welcome Amy.

We read Mouse Shapes (by Ellen Stoll Walsh) today and also used different textured shapes to create all sorts of animals and scenes.
I just love looking at how your students all come up with such unique creations.
Places like Reverse Art are a treasure trove for craft resources.
::: You’re absolutely right Elise the children always come up with much better ideas than we ever could. As for Reverse Art … we would be lost (and broke) without it!

I love Reverse Art!!! These foam dots and others make great stamps too. Just stick them onto wooden blocks (or whatever from Reverse Art) and use them as stamps. Print lots of chickens, caterpillars etc. Printing your collage is interesting too…you just have to convince the kids to paint or roller over their work and then take a print or two!
::: Hey Ruth, so good to hear from you. The printing ideas sound great. I was at Reverse Art today collecting timber so we’ll give it a go this week. I was chatting with the owner and I asked him if I could take some photos to include in a post so every one can see what it’s like … It reminds me of scrounging around in my Grand Mothers over stuffed shed when we were little. A real treasure trove of STUFF!

I love that picture of the kids encircling the chicks! I’m going to have to research to see if we have a hatching program around here.
One of our families occasionally brings in their grown chickens. My kids find great joy in feeding them worms from our worm bin.
::: Our children hunted high and low in the garden and under logs for worms Tom but for whatever reason they didn’t find one!
