::: make it irresistible – make a table top easel

If you are a regular follower of irresistible ideas you will have noticed that our children enjoy a huge variety of activities at our easels.

Easel painting is always a favorite and our large easels can be found both inside and out …

but the children have a great time sitting at our table top easels to paint and draw as well.

As we only have two table top easels …

we simply rig up a couple of extras when two isn’t enough.

We use a large wooden block to support a blackboard with a bulldog clip attached to hold the paper. We place a little ‘blue tac’ on the bottom of the block, as well as on the edge of the blackboard, to stop them from sliding around.

It’s really simple. Alternatively you can check this one out and build one yourself!

What a great idea for a homemade (quick) tabletop easel. I had not seen this. Thanks for sharing.

We love these easels at Kinder too, but have never used the tempra/water colours with them…..what a great idea. I will file that idea away for term 3!

Occasionally, I get a kid who has perfectionistic tendencies. It tends to cause them to get frustrated when things don’t go just how they intended. I think easel painting with water colors is a great activity for these kids because there is NO WAY to control the paint — gravity always pulls it down. I love watching these kids finally “let go” and just enjoy the process.

Once again I am inspired to change things at my own preschool! I have been scrounging the internet for a table top easle such as this. I really dislike the verticle forms. Do you have any idea what the gradient is on the slope.? I’m going to convince hubby to make one for me ( and the children :) ).

And THANK you for always responding to our posts. You are amazing!

::: Sorry Lisa I’m not sure on the gradient but I will find out and let you know. It’s currently term break and I have promised myself I will NOT go into kinder so I will let you know just as soon as I get back! :) :)
