::: ANZAC biscuits

ANZAC Day is nearly upon us, 25th April, a day where Australians commemorate those who fought in wars all around the world to make it a better place for all of us.

A traditional food we Aussies bake at this time is ANZAC biscuits. Easy to make and yummy to eat.

We wrote out our own recipe to refer to.

Then the children patiently took it in turns to measure …

Stir…

Roll…

Cook …

and eat …

outside in the beautiful Autumn weather.

Delicious!

    I wish we had proper cooking facilities. I always loved cooking with my own daughter when she was young. Most nights she would just be on a stool in front of me, serving as a second pair of hands. She really has some skills now!

    I’ve never heard of ANZAC Day. Now I know!

    This just reminded me to make my Anzac Biscuits for tomorrow! I love the touch of the Australian Flag next to the table – very patriotic of you :) We love cooking at preschool too, but we have been so busy of late with lots of new 3 year olds (well, 3 or 4 of them but it seems like a lot!) starting at the beginning of this term that things like cooking seem to be the first to slip by the wayside. Once everyone is settled and happy and normalcy returns we will have to get started again. I saw a pasta maker on Masterchef this week and thought that might be fun to try with the kids.

    We love to use props to help our activity set ups look irresistible Jenny and the Aussie flags just seemed … well perfect at the cooking table … and yes … we are very patriotic! :) :)

    Lol, I was reading the recipe and thought,” These are rather sweet biscuits.” Wasn’t till the end that I remembered that we call biscuits cookies.

    ::: Oh yes Pam … The tricky old language difference get us every time too! :) :)
