pop stick puppets

We have a couple of beautiful puppet theatres which the children enjoy very much.

Recently we had them both set up on top of one of the block trolleys which we find to be an ideal height and position as the children can play with the puppets on one side of the trolley while the audience can watch the show from the other.
We had some lovely animals and hand puppets in a large baskets for the children to use but one of our pre-kinder children needed a princess for her show.
Unfortunately we didn’t have a princess and nothing we could offer her was suitable so we suggested she might like to make a princess herself.

This caused a lot of interest among many of the children, in particular the girls, so we cleared some space on a table and provided some basic materials like heavy card, pop sticks, sticky tape, scissors and crayons and suggested to the children that they explore the tubs at the invention table for everything else they might need.
They returned with fabric, fur, felt markers and glue sticks….we were very impressed.

This proved to be another great fine motor exercise and the results once again were fantastic!

And what beautiful princesses they made!
