block trolley play
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
You will come to notice that we set up a lot of our imaginary play on top of our block trolleys.
We designed new trolleys based on the old block trolleys most kindergartens probably still have, but as the laminated surfaces were beginning to look very tired we knew it was time to update. We had a builder dad create some lovely new trolleys, to our instructions, out of MDF and we asked him to fit good quality casters, as being able to move the trolleys around easily was of utmost importance.
Our children love to take their imaginary play set ups over to a trolley where they enjoy setting up their own ideas for play, adding animals, blocks, natural materials and other props. They are drawn to this area because the height and depth of the trolley is ideal and they can play on their feet moving freely around.
As our trolleys are so easy to move around, we can push them up against the wall, or pull them out enabling the children to play from both sides.
We like to use our trolleys to extend a variety of different play areas.
They have proven to be invaluable play spaces.
