coat hanger threading

Threading is a great fine motor activity children really enjoy but we thought it was time for a change from using the old needles and thread.
We pulled out a pile of flexible wire coat hangers from the cupboard, that one of our very kind grandparents had collected for us, and the children sorted through items from the tubs at the invention table looking for things with holes in them that could be threaded onto the stretched out hangers.
Typically, they thought outside the square and found some really interesting objects to thread!
We hung them around the room from a long net but they also look terrific when you hook them end to end and stretch them back and forth across the room!
