::: ‘delicious’ playdough

P8280018

Play dough is just so delicious in its own right, especially when it is freshly made – warm, smooth and silky and a delight for little fingers to shape and mold.

We like to use an uncooked recipe (saves on a messy pot):

Mix:

1 cup salt

4 cups plain flour

4 tablespoons Cream of Tartar

6 tablespoons oil

colouring

Then add:

3 and 1/4 cups boiling water

Knead until smooth and all mixed.

When the children have had a while playing without any utensils etc… we like to pop into the playing space natural materials such as feathers, stones, sticks, beads, even sand or gravel to give it some texture.

We may also add such things as knives and scissors, perhaps cooking trays, boxes for ovens, patty pans and so on if the children want to go down that path.
