::: a homely touch
When we decided quite some years ago now that free snack time was the way to go, we had no idea what a wonderful social area it was going to be! Not only are the children deciding when and if they are hungry (they will never let themselves starve!), they choose when to stop their play and who they sit down at the table with.
A great way of getting your head around how to jazz up your snack table, or any activity table, is to think about how you present your tables at home.
A dinner table is functional with a knife and fork plonked on it, but how much more inviting is it when you have on a table cloth, beautiful serviettes, flowers and candles? You can’t wait to eat just from looking at it! Even the average hall table or coffee table is adorned with special items of interest.
We believe our children deserve special treatment as well and like to lay a center piece to make our snack table more irresistible.
Fresh flowers are simple and always a winner but sometime we use other props. Use whatever you have available. Irresistible is easy to achieve and the children will be drawn to it.
